It finished third behind the X Factor (10.8) and All Star Family Fortunes (5.3) though it’s average was boosted by X Factor following it because people switched on for the end of it for the X Factor. While Doctor Who only recieved 2 million or so viewers from the show before it, Celebritiy Masterchef. A lesson for Danny Cohen that he really needs to give BBC One a strong Saturday line up if it is to stand a chance against ITV. Possibly having Strictly on before Doctor Who would help both out in the ratings.

We’ll just have to face up to the fact that The X Factor and it’s surrounding hype pretty much own the Autumn/Winter schedules. In the spring Doctor Who is a big fish in a small pond, this time of year the reverse is true. It’s the price we will have to pay for watching it in a darker spookier environment.

i actually thought this as the best of this half lseries except Night Terrors.

5.2 million viewers does seem a little poor.

5.2 is a little lower than I would of guessed but I suspect it will consoildate well to around the 6/7 million mark as other episodes this year have.

Doctor Who finished 3rd on the night. Being beaten by The X Factor and All Star Family Fortunes (which it shared it’s slot with).
