I really enjoyed the return of the CyberMasters (a Surprise indeed). Probably my favourite Cyber Design along with the 80s Cybermen.
Please, some Company, make a CyberMaster.
(Apart from Eaglemoss that is, who already made one).

After watching twice, a really good episode and final outing. One you really need to pay attention to, to be able to follow all the plot points. Nice elements from the past, without overloading.

I’ve really enjoyed Jodie’s Doctor and it’s a shame that there are fewer episodes for her run. Also Sacha Dhawan as the Master was perfect in tone and approach.

Only hoping (though don’t hold out much hope) that there will be a full season box set!

I really miss the style of the regenerations from the classic series. Not in a visual effects sense but in they way they happen pretty swiftly after The Doctor is wounded.
It doesn’t make sense to me the He/She has time for protracted goodbyes to their companions when it should just happen quickly to save their life. I thought it was fine the first time with David Tenant just because it was a little different to what we had had before but, on the whole, I feel it’s a lot less dramatic than the sudden “deaths” of the earlier Doctors.
Also why does regenerating inside the TARDIS do so much damage to it? The Doctor has regenerated inside the TARDIS at least 4 times before with no such damage. Surely they can introduce a new TARDIS set without having to blow up the old one every time.

The main reason that 10’s and 12’s regeneration damaged the TARDIS (which was the only two times it has happened) was because of how long they had been holding back the regeneration energy. It’s the only thing that makes sense. In terms of how long they can prolong it, it would also really depend on the kind of fatal blow they receive. When 10 was shot by the Dalek in The Stolen Earth for example. he needed to regenerate asap.

for me it was the best episode since twice upon a time..and it proved that jodie whittaker could have been a better doctor if the scripts were better but at least she went out on a hi

Well, that was better than I thought it would be. Chibnall saved his best script until last. A fitting finale with good structure and pace. All the nods to classic Doctor Who too were tremendous. Definitely my favourite story of the Jodie Whitaker era. 10/10

Well, that was a pretty good finale for the Whittaker/Chibnall era. It’s a shame that they only seemed to realise their potential right at the end of their run.
Great to see all the familiar faces back, especially William Russell.

It was lovely seeing past companions but they should all have been given a great line each in that group as a perfect send off, especially William Russell. They all deserved that much.

Surprised !! I thought it was excellent shame Chibnail waited this long to come up with something watchable fantastic to see the classic Docs – superb and amazingly the guy playing the Master actually had two of the best moments his jibe at Tegan about her aunty vanessa and pulling out the record to play when he was stranded. Ian had a great line two William Russell looked great ! Shame they couldn;t get John Levene or Anneke to make an appearance. My only concern is how come Tom didn’t make an appearance …hope he’s well.

Reportedly, Chibnall wanted him involved but Tom wasn’t up to it and considering how much Tom was showing his age in Day of the Doctor 9 years earlier, I’m not surprised.

Theres a picture of tom currently on another site and he looks as if he’s lost a lot of weight. I thought his scene in Day of the Doctor was the best moment of that episode Tom brought some considerable gravits to proceedings. Colin Peter Sylv and Paul did very well though !

Mmm. The fact that the Doctor’s clothes also ‘regenerated’, which has never happened before, suggests that this is some sort of trick and Tennant isn’t 14 at all. Perhaps the entire anniversary special will take place in a moment, an entire fantasy adventure playing out in the middle of a regeneration before Jodie becomes Ncuti.

While i agree it’s some sort of trick, it has happened before with the first doctor to the second, but that was most likely a continuity error. 🙂

Well, I’m wrong once again. The Beeb have confirmed that Tennant is indeed playing the Fourteenth Doctor. Have to say I’m not too happy about this. If he were playing an accidental degeneration to Ten, then fine, but I don’t think he’s special enough as an actor to warrant two entire generations to himself, however brief the second one may be.

‘The Power of the Doctor’ is almost here. Starting to look forward to it now. Hoping Jodie Whitaker has a strong story to go out on. Not been a great fan of this era so hoping the finale instead is decent for a change.

Whatever this is actually like (proof of the pudding) the broadcasting date is of course significant in that as well as part of marking the BBC centenary it is also exactly 59 years, and the day then after the Kennedy assassination, since the broadcast of the first episode of the classic series before the broadcasting of the specials to mark the series 60th anniversary next year.

If the 23rd of October this year instead of November fine, but when visiting YouTube. before coming here it seemed to have been written that it was going to be November.

The BBC just said “coming soon” after first airing the trailer on BBC1

Also worth saying (if you didn’t already know) that ‘The Power of the Doctor’ will be the 300th Doctor Who televised story! That’s if you count ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’ and ‘Flux’ as one story though.

Not cybermen, Daleks, old companions and the flipping Master again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again….

Doctor Who can go anywhere and do anything and yet it seems stuck in a repetition vortex since series 7 of New Who….

It’s not about if the show is good or entertaining, it just feels like it just doesn’t even try to reach its potential, considering that it is the greatest set-up for story telling that has ever been devised.

There is a rumour that the BBC is obligated to feature the Daleks in some capacity every season or batch of episodes or the Terry Nation estate pulls the rights to them. But I agree that the main villains are used too much.

    • Doctor Stu

      October 8th, 2022 - 7:54pm

There was a whole year though where they didn’t make an appearance. Resolution happened in Jan 2019 and then a whole year went by and series 12 episode 1 began on New Year’s Day 2020 didn’t it? And then the next Dalek appearance was the Jan 2021 New Years special. So that was nearly 2 years without a Dalek.

Nobody said, ” I’m fed up with Klingons/Romulans” in classic Star Trek (anything in my view mostly before Abrams/Kurtzman “Trek”) and it’s how these trademarked properties are used.

The Dalek thing is a myth. Steven Moffat said so, his mother-in-law being Terry Nation’s agent at one time.

It does look Great. But I’m not getting over excited like many fans I’ve seen on Youtube. Too many times I’ve built up my anticipation (like the Sea Devils coming back or the ‘Flux’ finale for example), only to come away feeling hugely disappointed. I’m approaching this special with low expectations. That way I won’t be as disappointed, or surprisingly won over.
