February 24th, 2020 - 7:27amI’m the first to admit not fan of the new series but that was a superb episode let down only by the cyber drone design

February 24th, 2020 - 6:58amI must have watched a different episode to other people because i just got annoyed with some of the plot. The Doctor lands the Tardis to far from the camp for them to escape back to.. yet info dumps the second she gets to the settlement about these being the last humans left alive (she knew the stakes were high but didn’t think the Tardis would be some help). I know it would make bad TV if it was that easy to save the day. We meet the last humans and the Doctor gives a speech about not running away.. 5 minutes later and 3 of them are dead and she tells them to runaway. I can handle the change of mind but no apology that she was wrong. The Doctor brings along some devices to stop the Cybermen (The Doctor doesn’t use weapons as we all know).. they don’t work so she makes a bomb. Again, if the stakes are so high why not build a proper bomb. I had no issue with the acting which a lot of neh sayers point to. I think it’s the over use of dialogue. Every second has to be filled. I was more intrigued by the abandoned baby story. Why? Because it played out in images and a few words what was going on and drew you in. The Cybermen looked impressive and glad to see The Master is back to explain.

February 24th, 2020 - 12:07amMy prediction is that the one of companions will not return to Earth afterward, has got nothing really to come back to.
I actually saw the possibility of romance between a companion and one of the episode characters and this will see them stay with that person instead of returning to Earth.
Just speculation of course.

February 24th, 2020 - 12:00amJust seeing a Cyberarmy on the march like in the classic “Earhshock” is mesmerising though the buildup is often better than the denouement and agree with Tim M that this is the sort of story in which any problems any of us have with Jodie are put more out of focus,
Still have to see that Chibnall hasn’t upset too much,if any, canon apple carts and will be personally pleased as well as better disposed in opinion of him if both that and the story itself is pulled off
Would be be interesting to see if the end takes us into the shot Dalek story and seeing some proper cyber action makes me want to see how this also ties in with Earth history’s conflicts with the Daleks and the Time War, And a Dalek/ Cyberwar as well as any renewed conflict with the Movellans hinted at in “The Pilot” would be welcome,

February 23rd, 2020 - 10:33pmIt is no coincidence that this Brendan is Ginger. Surprised nobody is talking about him

February 23rd, 2020 - 10:27pmGuy the Zygon, imagine next week there’s a Dalek cliffhanger that we have to wait until the special episode to be resolved. Whenever that may be, new year? Or possibly before as apparently it’s already been filmed

February 23rd, 2020 - 10:12pmExcellent episode+ stunning fusion now of teardrop-eYed Classic and modern stYles in the redesigned warrior-class Cybermen! Speculating is great fun; no law against it – I keep telling mYself how mad the idea is, but still can’t dispel niggling echoes of – Davros! – in the semi-perished Cyberleader himself: metal teeth, use of the phrase ‘When the time is right” and mYsterious triumph in “The Ascension of the Cybermen – and BeYond…” Could he have been so desperate to achieve mobilitY that he chose to be cYbernized? That, plus the notable absence so far of his deadlY progenY this season, despite (if rumours are to be believed) an existing clause with the TerrY Nation Estate that theY must be used everY series, all points to the best being saved until the verY last!

February 23rd, 2020 - 10:00pmThat baby has to be some sort of timeless child surely? Or at the very least an earlier Doctor, it is no coincidence that he is Ginger. Maybe these kids were sent from Gallifrey in case of total obliteration and contain the dna or memories of the Doctor, their cleverest timelord. So there’s multiple gallifreyians scattered around that think they’re the Doctor like ruth? But then again how would that work? Was that another chameleon arch? There’s lots of clocks? I’m so confused but at least this series has got me thinking and guessing and im genuinely excited for next week. If only Chibnall had done this last year.
Acting was good again, apart from Ryan he’s completely useless and it was soooo good hearing the series 2 Cybus cybermen voices I’m surprised nobody’s commenting on this. My favourite Cyber voice and design. And the master was looking hot at the end of this episode if I do say so myself, he’s really sliding into the role well. Can’t wait for next week
8/10. If Ryan could act it would be a 9/10. The only one who lets the cast down unfortunately. Also loses a point for the cyber drones as well I thought they looked a bit silly

February 23rd, 2020 - 9:44pmThere is an interview on the BBC website with chibbers that is interesting. Have to say I’m not sure we’ll get a full explanation for ruth in the final episode. It’s something that may spill over into the next series. I don’t mind waiting if the next series continues the good work of this one. Roll on more Jodie!

February 23rd, 2020 - 9:29pmFor me an excellent episode! 10/10
Action packed, exciting, great cliffhanger.
The acting was solid, the effects brilliant, the plot great. I loved the irony that the emotionless Cybermen are being resurrected by someone driven purely by emotion.
I wonder if this is the same Cyberwar that led to the conference on Earth (Earthshock) and the almost devastation of Voga (Revenge of the Cybermen), and presumably to the ice tombs of Telos being forgotten.
I like the fact that there are multiple cyber styles in the episode as the past episodes of the series when arranged chronologically show this must have been the case. Would have been nice if some of the Cyber parts drifting in space had been from 63-89 episodes… This is also true of the Daleks and I liked that they included that in Capaldi’s era.
Will Graham and Yaz be killed or converted?
Will Ryan be killed?
Will Graham and Ravio fall in love and turn out to be the origins of the Time Lords?
Looking forward to next week!

February 23rd, 2020 - 9:27pmAnother question that needs answering is where do’s the Ruth Doctor fit into all this I hope they answer it next week.

February 23rd, 2020 - 9:22pmI agree with you Bicky. ignore the ppl who moan all the time about the stories I’ve been a fan of Who since I was 4 so you can tell my age the first Dr for me was Tom Baker the legend. and I will keep watching it for as long as they make it. Tonight’s episode had some good twists. Who is the Guard who got him memory wiped at the end? It was nice to see Gallifrey and the return of the Master. I hope all the questions are answered in the Timeless Child.

February 23rd, 2020 - 9:15pmExcellent episode, fast paced, lots of new Cybermen, lots of questions but the main one is who is the baby. Can’t wait for next Sunday, gonna be a looong week.

February 23rd, 2020 - 9:01pmGreat Epic episode With an exciting feel to it. Ignore the people that keep moaning on and on. Never satisfied- stop watching for Flip sake!

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:42pmAmazing! It kind of gave me Hartnell era vibes with the gang (fam?) being split up in the middle of some kind of war, and not being able to retreat back to the Tardis. But then the end, with destroyed Gallifrey and The Master brought me straight back into series 12 and now I’m excited to see how it’ll conclude!

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:40pmGreat episode overall I’d say the best of Jodie’s era. Love the look of the new Cybermen

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:39pmDefinitely a more satisfying finale compared to previous series, love the fact that the Warriors are using the classic cybus march.

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:33pmThe cybermen were brilliant and creepy here and the star wars approach to them such as seeing a cyber war zone and cyber ships was a lot of fun and the design is a really nice balance of all past designs – fingers crossed for some figures of them. I still however find the lone cyberman with his scenery chewing and human voice just not to my liking but that might be just me, and dont get me started on the cyber drones lol.
I was expecting more development to the overall arc but instead we’ve added more questions and so the level of expectation next episode is greater – From what we saw this episode I’d guess the guy who became a police office is somehow related to Jo Martin’s doctor with the chameleon arc. I dont really know whats going on with Gallifrey anymore but it would be fun if the last humans fleeing cybermen crossed over to an empty Gallifrey and set themselves up there beginning the Gallifreyan race but I doubt thats it, probably more likely is the master lets the cybermen through to Gallifrey resulting in the devastation we saw earlier in the series.
I for sure think we’re building up to a companion exit or death next episode so its just a shame they’ve never quite clicked with me, though I think Yaz had or still has a lot of potential.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
February 23rd, 2020 - 8:32pmI enjoyed that, lots of action. But I can’t help feeling that there wasn’t much of a plot to it, it was 50 minutes of build up to next week. Most other penultimate episodes have more of the plot, then the resolution lasts for the whole of the last episode. I’m thinking Utopia, The Stolen Earth, The Pandorica Opens, Dark Water, World Enough and Time…
But I enjoyed it nonetheless, will reserve full judgement until next week! Excited!

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:29pmI’ll post my longer opinion soon, but in a word…
Brilliant!

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:20pmReally? People are still saying can’t act… and nothing happened? Again really? Just proves some fans will only see what they want to see. They want to complain so ignore an episode full of incident and great acting.

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:14pmStill more questions than answers, but that was a brilliant episode. I never thought I’d say that about a Chibnall episode. Really enjoyed it from start to finish. Built up to a great cliffhanger too! 10/10 episode, and the best of the Jodie Whitaker era so far. Of course, the season finale now has a lot to live up to, but here’s hoping the story ends as well as it’s started.

February 23rd, 2020 - 8:06pmI was quite disappointed for some reason. Nothing interesting happened and the cliffhanger was cringeworthy
