What did you Think of Dinosaurs On A Spaceship?

What did you Think of Dinosaurs On A Spaceship

The second episode of series 7a has aired so what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

An unmanned spaceship hurtles towards certain destruction – unless the Doctor can save it, and its impossible cargo … of dinosaurs!

By his side a ragtag gang of adventurers, a big game hunter, an Egyptian Queen and a surprised member of the Pond family. But little does the Doctor know there is someone else on board who will stop at nothing to keep hold of his precious, prehistoric cargo.

A great episode, and much better than the trailer suggested. The dinosaurs were very realistic with some good CGI.
I wasn’t sure about the Doctor leaving Solomon to his fate – not very Doctor like. Former Doctors would probably have given Solomon a chance to save themselves first.
By the way, with the Doctor picking up the Ponds every few months or so, it gives great scope for some “missing adventures” stories in book or audio form at some time in the future.

Matt Smith has loads of classic episodes! TEH, TTOA, FAS, VATD, TL, TPO, TBB, ACC, TIA, DOTM, TDW, AGMGTW, TGWW, TGC, TDTWATW, AOTD, DOAS and ATCM.

The worst episode of the Matt Smith era by a mile. Please no more Chris Chibnall Scripts, hes a dreadful writer and this episode was a complete mess from start to finish!

Because of the doctor getting darker, i think he’ll be the main reason Rory and Amy die.

Not good! Sometimes I long for the day when DW was spread out over 3 or 4 episodes where characterisation and plot could develop. My major gripe here is Queen Nefertiti. Just thrown into the mix for the sake of it just being Queen Nefertiti – she didn’t need to be there at all – Solomon could have bargained with the TARDIS – much more precious. The idea of comedy double acts/comedians being in Who should have been abandoned with Hale and Pace in Survival – stupid robots! It only started to pick up when Solomon appeared and we found out more about who the ship belonged to, but even Solomon didn’t get enough screen time – and would this version of the Doctor REALLY have sent him to his death? I’m not moaning because it’s new – I really liked Aylum last week, but for me this was childish nonsense that will probably be gracing the lower end of the Season 7 votes in DWM this time next year. Still waiting for Mat Smith to have his Blink or Midnight ‘classic’ episode because he deserves so much better than this!

Well that was a hell lot better than the first… how come if it’s not the Daleks or Cybermen, they don’t screw it up?

I would love to see the Valeyard return, I really liked the character although I’m not sure this has much to do with it, but it would be nice.

I really want to see his dad, maybe a spin off,of Rory’s dad like with the postcards travelling time and space.but we see him in the power of 3.but hedid not seem to be shocked much about the doctor,I think it was too rushed

You’re right. Doctor Who isn’t a comedy… And it’s not a drama. Doctor Who is a show where something new happens every week. One week, it can be a nice light hearted adventure (like this episode), the next it can be a dark, action adventure episode (like next week’s). 😛

seems your in the minority, i really enjoyed it to be honest, some of the dialogue a bit over the top and Amy seems strange, Solomon was a brilliant villain

I think the robots should return in a spin off as well as riddell and nefati and Rory’s dad

am i the only one who hated this ep. it was silly and stupid. everyone has been saying it was great and funny. but dr who is not a comedy its a drama but steven moffat wants it to be a drama and comedy and thriller and romance and chick flick. its all packed in to one show and it makes its stupid. AND THE ROBOTS….NO JUST NO I COULD NOT WATCH AS IT MAGE ME CRIGE ALL THE WAY. i think its sad to say that it took russle t davis 6 years to build up what he did and it took steven moffat 2 years to take that way.

They should do an episode all about Rory’s dad ,I like his dad,he funny.a Rory dad spinoff

I’m sure this is part of a big arc since trial of the time lord which introduced doctor dark, known as the valeyard, then the 7th doctor was darker and the doctors following are darker,so it has to be to do with the valeyard

  • The TARDIS

    September 8th, 2012 - 9:44pm

It was a brilliant episode, although I think another 15 minutes would have helped make it more credible and feel less rushed. And when he effectively killed Solomon in cold blood, I couldn’t help but remember the uproar from Day of the Daleks and Vengeance on Varos. I have a feeling this is going to end badly – both on and off the screen…

i engoyed this episode, would have loved to see a T-REX awake and stomping around the space ship.

  • Dr who

The doctor is becoming darker and as I said,I think the valeyard is coming, the question will be answered on Trenzalore, the doctor is becoming a murderer and hints at his dark side, dream lord and that, even Russell t Davies with the waters of mars gave hints at Matthew smith era,the valeyard has to come.

It would have been nice to actually watch it – Unfortunately the crappy digital signal drops in & out half-way through ruining a perfectly good episode’s viewing experience for me! Give me analogue any day!

  • The 14th Doctor

Pure fun, which is what Steven Moffat’s series has lacked more than anything. Really, why can’t we have a dark opening and finale to each series, and have the middle episodes like this?

But yeah, the bit about breaking in was weird, and I was so upset that the Dinosaur died!

Even so, I’m not sure about the Doctor leaving Mr Filch to die was very good. For a dark and serious story, maybe yes, but not for a fun romp like this. It just didn’t feel appropriate. It’d have been better if he got handed over to the Judoon or something.
