I’m thinking classic stories are being revisited – the android invasion (human robot dude), girl in the fireplace (horse pic), the time warrior (gladiator robot thing), the invasion of dinosaurs (dinosaur pic), doomsday (doctor holding on in tardis) and others. Too tired to continue. Just the old favourites eh? – Tom Baker (50th Special)

I don’t really want the bronze dalek to return.I don’t mind the design but I think that the daleks should get a new design.hopefully there still going to use the dalek supreme and the officer dalek drone in series 8

    July 24th, 2014 - 11:32am

Is steven moffat trying to make amends with certain classic stories. I;e- the tardis interior the invasion of time rectified in journey to the centre of the tardis. Well are the dinosaurs making amends for the poor models in the pertwee story?

    • 100,000BC

      July 25th, 2014 - 12:36pm

Possibly, after all, looking at all of the clues…
Curator: “In years to come you might find yourself revisiting a few… But just the old favourites, eh?”
Capaldi: “I’ve made many mistakes, and it’s about time I did something about that.”
Which could mean that is incorporated into the storyline, as shown by the dinosaurs in London, etc.

      July 28th, 2014 - 2:10pm

Mm well theres always a clue it seems in Mr.moffats dialogue it seems. You scrutinise it better than i do though. It just slowly dawned on me.

    The New series looks Great!
Glad they’ve gone with an older Doctor this Time, A Great mix of the old and the new, How about some old adversaries returning like The Yeti, Wirren or even dare I say Sutekh would be Supreme!

    • Anonymous

      July 25th, 2014 - 10:28am

why,ll i love the idea of old adversaries, we need new enemies as well. They need to keep pushing forward rather than looking back.

  • David Strachan

    July 20th, 2014 - 10:15pm

I hope Davros is ACTUALLY returning and that it’s not the Dalek Primeminister talking like him to pull wool over our eyes. I like the fact the Cybermen are returing and with a nice nod to ‘The Invasion’, I just want them to be a creditable threat again. I think the Dinosaur will feature in an episode with the Paternoster Gang since it’s set in past London and Silurians like Vastra have controled Dinosaurs before. I just hope some of the new monsters are scary or at least make sense in a narative way.

    • finn townley

      July 26th, 2014 - 8:35pm

if davros does not return then I would like a dalek temperer.I hate dalek prime. Also I would like dalek supreme to return

Doctor Who isn’t good any more, Matt Smith ruined the show for me by doing terrible jokes and just being annoying. I’ve lost all faith in this show, please make it stop. Capaldi’s not going to be any different. 🙁

    • James Halho

      July 24th, 2014 - 10:38am

What Matt Smith, and all actors say aren’t usually their own words. Apart from some exeptions, actors just read from a script. Matt Smith probably ‘modifies’ it to suit his personality, but it is mostly the script writer.

Apart from all the other awesomeness I see, do I detect echoes of a Mr. Tristam Cary?
Murray Gold works wonders, does he not?

    • Obsie

      July 21st, 2014 - 11:42am

How? I know that Tristam Cary, wrote music for the programme along with Quatermass, but why does he fit into this scenario?

I think Peter Capaldi will make a great Doctor

      July 17th, 2014 - 7:17am

Oh he will ……. he will 😉

    July 16th, 2014 - 6:44pm

Just a thought, but if Romana ever does return if assuming she did not die in the Time War, how about actress Sarah Alexander in the role ?.

She starred as Susan in Steven Moffat’s BBC comedy series ‘Coupling’. Her first bit of acting work was a brief appearance in the Red Dwarf episode ‘Stoke Me A Klipper’ as a French Queen, and in more recent times appears now with Alan Davies as his characters wife in ‘Johnathan Creek’.

    • Obsie

      July 16th, 2014 - 7:49pm

Would anyone like to see Lalla Ward back in the role? “Just the old favourites…” as The Curator said. Nice bit of continuity or not?

    • Floppy_Who

      July 26th, 2014 - 11:02am

And she also worked with Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller in their original C4 run of the Armstrong & Miller Show. And thinking about it she was in Green Wing with Michelle Gomez too.

    July 16th, 2014 - 6:11pm

at 0.47 thats from the doctors wife! when the tardis is inhabited by house!

  • The Moffat Paradox

    July 16th, 2014 - 9:38am

We see a Dalek ship.I would like to see more space battle scenes in which ships like Dalek ships are slugging it out harder against someone elses about as advanced.A bit like the Dominion War in Star Trek DS9.

    • Obsie

      July 16th, 2014 - 11:20am

Nice visually, but Doctor Who has never really been about space battles; rather battles in various other forms. Each sci-fi show has it’s own way of doing things that suits it’s template. Personally I don’t see why it should stray into relying on more special effects. However, I realise that today’s audiences do require a little more at times.

    • The Moffat Paradox

      July 16th, 2014 - 9:38pm

W’eve already seen something like this in “Parting Of The Ways,The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End” and “The Day/Time Of The Doctor”.
It’s just that to date it’s only the Dalek ships that have done any serious shooting.

    • Obsie

      July 16th, 2014 - 9:58pm

I know your point, but most of the races The Doctor faces are chiefly out and out baddies set out on conquering, enslaving, converting and making darn nuisances of themselves. As we know the Daleks just want everything dead; and that’s it full stop. Perhaps other races simply don’t want to engage them. Or can’t because of various technology stages. Maybe it’s The Shadow Proclamation preventing all out battles. Or budget.

  • Alun Dyfed Hughes-Jones

    July 15th, 2014 - 10:36pm

I hope Davros returns to the series. Because you can’t have the Daleks without him and the voice in the trailer sounds just like Davros

      July 16th, 2014 - 7:36am

I agree, you can’t have the Daleks without Davros, he is is their creator and one true god of all Daleks after all, their real Emperor.

    • Floppy_Who

      July 26th, 2014 - 11:04am

As much as I like Davros, many of his appearances in the classic series diluted the impact of the Daleks, so possibly have a Davros story with no Daleks?

  • Alun Dyfed Hughes-Jones

    July 15th, 2014 - 10:29pm

I am so excited to see the new series. It will be great to see the Daleks and the Cybermen back on the show

Doctor Who original concept Peter Capaldi intro

    July 15th, 2014 - 7:59am

I love how the Doctor’s being so cryptic with Clara. Their going, “Into Darkness”. I hope they release another trailer soon, after they completely finish filming the series. The only thing that I’m not sure whether it was the right choice, is that they didn’t give him a new sonic screwdriver. I thought it was time to bring out River Song’s future sonic screwdriver. Who knows what they have planned in that area of the show. I love the trailer, Peter Capaldi’s already shaping up to be one of my favourites, after David Tennant.

  • Obsie

    July 15th, 2014 - 1:16am

Listening to Peter Capaldi’s voice-over; he seems to say: “I’m The Doctor, I’ve lived for over two thousand years…” How has he jumped so quickly age wise, have I missed something along the way?

      July 15th, 2014 - 10:35am

Yes, got all that scenario. I think now I would like a bit more narrowing down of the “over..” part. As they did with numbering of regenerations. I’m also happy for The Doctor to explain it away with a touch of minor truth manipulation in humorous form. I’m being picky, I know.

      July 15th, 2014 - 9:31pm

Joe Max is right he was on Trenzalore for 900 years.

      July 15th, 2014 - 10:41pm

Thanks Joe and Simon for that. Been watching since 1967, sometimes the brain goes! Of course The Doctor could always be following his first rule.

i cant help but think that the half face person is an updated clockwork droid, maybe made from wax to blend into the background as they do not tend to wear masks in this period in time, which would explain half the face as it may of melted off. what made me think this is the fact the droid moved its arm up like a robot and it looks like it has some sort of clock work inside of the metal cage casing, meaning it could be them, what do you lot think

    • Obsie

      July 15th, 2014 - 1:21am

Wonderful to look at in the story, but worthy of bringing them back to the casual viewer, debatable question, I suspect not (sorry to burst your idea bubble). However, with Who it’s anyone’s guess.
