Costume Revealed! Peter Capaldi’s Era Officially Begins

Peter Capaldi’s era officially begins

The Doctor has a new look as Peter Capaldi’s era officially begins. In a picture released today by the BBC, Capaldi can be seen in the costume that will define his time as the Twelfth Time Lord in one of TV’s biggest roles. Sporting a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt as well as black Dr. Marten shoes, the look was created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden.

Commenting on his costume, Peter Capaldi said: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.” While lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”

Filming for episode one of series 8 began earlier this month, after 10.2 million tuned-in on Christmas Day to get their first much-anticipated glimpse of Capaldi’s Doctor. Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, commented: “Peter Capaldi’s Doctor is officially recorded in history today with the unveiling of his new costume. It’s sharp, smart and stylish – The Twelfth Time Lord means business.”

Doctor Who is a BBC Cymru Wales production for BBC One.

Yeah David Tennant just had that zing! With the accessories the twelfth just needs something and I think a hat would sound great

I love the idea, but he’s missing the hting that stands him out? so David Tennant he had sneakers and a long trench coat that made him look smart but also a bit odd…Matt smith, he loves the bow ties and a nice suit, Tom Baker had an unusal large scarf. but then again I guess it’s also based on their personality, but yes he needs something to stand him out maybe a……hat…..or…yea just give him a hat:P

I like the idea of a hat! I think a top hat would look nice, but it would be difficult to hold on to when they’re running (there’s always running).

Great costume … cant wait for the ‘fun’ to begin; and discover the new personality and quirks of the ‘reassembled’ Doctor and I am not too sure he needs a hat, though it would be great seeing him ‘choose’ a hat and discard it and or lose it saving the day … hat? yes/no/yes/no … no need, but it could get him into and out of situations/ trouble … oooops my imagination is running away with me; I’ll have to wait … Mr Peter Capaldi is a great choice; have fun Peter; we will

During the Hiatus before we see Peter Capaldi settling in as the Tardis’s latest custodian I’ve been watching old episodes with all the previous Doctors of the classic era I’ve not seen before (or reconstructions where missing) on DailyMotion.

Other than the Master/Rani isn’t it time we saw the Meddling Monk again? When last seen played by Peter Butterworth ,who became better known for the Carry On Films, in “The Daleks Master Plan” he was cursing the first Doctor for stealing his Tardis’s directional controls.

“I’ll get you for this Doctor!! I’ll get you for this!!

He’s in our timeline been threatening to do that for nearly as long as the series.
