What Did You Think Of Torchwood Dead Of Night?

What Did You Think Of Torchwood Rendition?

Poll – Now that the third episode of Torchwood Miracle Day – Dead Of Night has aired in various counties, what did you think? Does Torchwood just get better and better or was it not as good as you had hoped.

Torchwood goes on the run and finds a new enemy, but as they launch a raid on PhiCorp headquarters, Jack must confront the mysterious Oswald Danes.

Just watched episode 4. What has happened to Torchwood? The ‘plot’ is so loosely held together, it drags on with very little actually happening or being revealed and pointless dialogue. As for episode 3, my husband missed it and after watching episode 4 he said he hadn’t noticed he had really missed anything. So many episodes to go but little happening. Give us quality not quantity!! If Torchwood was popular in the US then they obviously liked it made the British way,
    i.e. plot!!
    what the hell happened Russell??

My thoughts Exactly…….Where’s The Plot !
This Series should have been a Two Part Special.

agree completely! I was never the biggest torchwood fan but Children of the Earth was amazing! Apart from 24, why do all american dramas have to be so sloooow.

I’m 12 I can deal with it so why shouldn’t anyone else be able to seriously that’s no worse than my sex-ed a little more realistic admittadly

Just because you can doesn’t mean everyone can they have just as much of right to express their opinions without being told “deal with it” Not everyone is the same.

i love the series so far-the first episode was very american with the car chase along the beach, but it has become slightly more ‘down to Wales’ as it has gone along. i also disagree with people who say the sex scenes have nothing to do with the story-rex and doctor vera’s relationship was used to get gwen into the phi-corp building, and Jacks was, if nothing else, used to see how americans would cope with it, given as how that are very homophobic.

Agree with C@A, it is for teenagers and adults who “should” be able to deal with this content, however, obvisiusly some can’t. I think they might need to get out a bit more and look at the world around them.

Look Mr. RTD, we ‘get it’. Jack is omni-sexual and likes men. You don’t have to push it into our faces – literally. Less is more you know.

It’s Not Homophobic If You Don’t Like A Naked Man On Television, It Would Be If You Said Something Like, ‘Gays Disgust Me, And They Should Never Kiss In Public’ The Thing Is That It Just Came To A Shock For Torchwood To Be That Graphic.

    • C@A

      July 31st, 2011 - 12:38pm

Yes, you’re right. I don’t like naked women on television, but, hey, when they appear I still look. 😛 Nudity can serve a plot point sometimes.

Thank god “RTD” has left Doctor Who, if this is the Best he can come up with for Torchwood, i think “Doctor Who” would have been axed again

    • Haza14

      July 30th, 2011 - 11:35pm

If it wasn’t for Russell Doctor Who would still have a reputation for wonky sets and Daleks that can’t get up stairs. In fact if it wasn’t for him Doctor Who would have stayed dead and buried in 1996 after the TV movie. Also, take a look at the viewing figures for the 2005-2009 era, and average of 9 million with all the last two or three specials getting 10 million! That speaks volumes. Sorry mate, your in the minority!

You missed the point Haza14, i’m referring to this Series of “Torchwood” Not “Doctor Who” 2005-2009 era.

BTW…Whats wrong with Wonky Sets and DALEKS that can’t climb stairs.
      Those Episodes were Classics…lol

it was discusting, because jack was kissing a full naked man it made me feel really sick

    • Nigel M

      July 29th, 2011 - 9:01pm

I wouldn’t have minded too much if it was somehow relevant to the story but it seemed to have been thrown in to pad out the episode.

      See, with the homophobia…

    • beep

      July 29th, 2011 - 10:16pm

I am a bit shocked at all this homophobia, its the twenty first century people, were people can be proud of who they are and not criticised for it…or so I thought

    • Nigel M

      July 29th, 2011 - 11:14pm

I’m not homophobic but I’m watching it for the sci-fi. As I said above, the scene in question was completely gratuitous and irrelevant to the storyline. Children of Earth had some graphic scenes involving children but they were relevant to the story.

    • Dark Side of the Moon

      July 29th, 2011 - 11:19pm

Well said Nigel M. It was a completely pointless scene. Infact this series is seriously lacking sci-fi…its more like a cop show. Im not impressed.

    • C@A

      July 30th, 2011 - 9:47am

Beep, it’s what you get when you have a site allowing <13 to post, who's knowledge on sexuality is usually rather low (unless they aren't hetero themselves, but even then) and can't make a response very constructive to make me as a 14 year old homo a little angry at what they're saying.

    • booboo

      July 30th, 2011 - 8:45pm

They are only commenting because they have been allowed to watch it, this site doesn’t discriminate age never has never will.

I do however sympathise – Captain Jack is a Doctor Who Character, he starter out there – Captain Jack is in Torchwood – there going to want to watch him – difficult situation

    • Haza14

      July 30th, 2011 - 11:25pm

That’s Jack mate! He ain’t gona change, he’s always been going for a bit of both, aliens included, obviously! Also I did think, it was relevant to the story line as it was showing that he is trying to make the most of life as he is no longer immortal. He wants to have some fun!

    • Zackhgs

      August 2nd, 2011 - 11:04pm

Seriously though what’s with homophobia why can’t people learn that discrimination only leads to bad things

    July 29th, 2011 - 12:43pm

So far I think Miracle Day has been perfect. All these people that keep complaining about the ‘Jack’ scene in ep 3 should get a grip it clearly states in the programme guides and when you press info “contains some sexual content’ i mean if i saw that i would not let my child or ‘kid’ watch it. I think its been brilliant it just shows what american money can do.. and the aliens could just be round the corner.

    • Dark Side of the Moon

      July 29th, 2011 - 8:42pm

I didnt have a problem that it was ‘too adult’, my prolem was thw whole sequence (nightclub and bedroom) was pointless and added nothing at all to the story. If you are going to go to the trouble of filming a sex scene then at least make it relevant to the plot. We all know Jack is having to deal with being mortal…I dont need to see his bum to understand that:) It was scene to “flesh” out an episode that had very little going for it. Lets hope Ep 4 gets things going.

      Miracle Day…BORING!

They said that jacks gay scene was gonna be cut. but it wasn’t! Revolting!!!

i agree with everything you have said doctor daddy cool 67

  • C@A

    July 29th, 2011 - 10:14am

Disgusting? It wasn’t pornographic at all, other than a few bottoms and a few moans. That’s not much to call disgusting. I found the two middle aged guys kissing in the bar more disgusting, but I didn’t think much of it. What about Rex and his girl? Did you think of their ‘scene’ as disgusting? While I agree they didn’t serve much plot purpose altogether, this isn’t a kid’s show. It’s for teenagers and adults, who can cope with this content.

  • doctor daddy cool 67

    July 29th, 2011 - 9:23am

Yes, I agree with you there. Part 3 seemed to drag along and there was no need for the disgusting gay scene. I can tolerate the innuendo but there are probably some children watching this and there is no need to have scenes like that in a sci-fi show.
The first 2 episodes were promising but it now looks as though the plot will thin out over the next few weeks. I actually watched all of the children of earth dvd yesterday and you can see the difference in quality of writing. Sorry RTD, but the american influence has , in my opinion , ruined Torchwood.

  • Joe

    July 28th, 2011 - 10:44pm

    I used to like Torchwood.
    now? i don’t.
They have ruined a show i once loved. the show which was filled with mysterious and wonderful aliens, has now turned into a sort of “police detection/secret agent” show. it’s terrible.
and i know Torchwood is aimed at an older audience, but bear in mind some kids do watch it. and i thought the scene with Captain jack and that other dude was gross.
i won’t be watching next week.

      July 29th, 2011 - 11:48am

i won’t be watching torchood again. it’s unsuitable for kids my age. childeren of earth was tonnes better

      July 29th, 2011 - 11:53am

I Watch it but i think ep 3 was best. 9/10. Children o9f earth 10/10. It is a bit unsuitible with gay stuff in

What used to be a good fast paced action series is now a plodding dead in the water series.

Can the US audience not cope with a 4 parter (which is what this series would in reality be).

Watched 1 & 2 – taped 3 & 4 but do not know if I will even bother, except to fast forward to see John’s bum!!!!

    July 28th, 2011 - 10:04pm

it’s torchwood aimed for kids or adults?? captain jacks gay scene was vey graphc i thought, it was unneccesary and i changed the channel. i don’t see that as good entertainment, thats what tv is really. and rex and vera??? random no point. i am vey dissapointed with miracle day, childeren of earth was much better, does anyone ele agree?? if so, please reply.

    • booboo

      July 28th, 2011 - 10:07pm

Its clearly aimed at adults with parental discretion

    • Nigel M

      July 28th, 2011 - 11:22pm

I agree, the two “graphic” scenes were totally gratuitous and came out of nowhere. They seem to be trying to pad this out to last ten weeks as opposed to the five sharp and concise Children of Earth episodes.

      July 29th, 2011 - 3:02pm

am i the only one that thinks this is the best series of torchwood ever, the new team i think was better than the last one ( apart from ianto)
and that torchwood and america works perfectly together! i was a little unsure about bill pullmans “villian” character until this episode when we have finally seen a glimpse of his ruthless side i cant see why the bbc has cut the gay scene its really not too graphic like the bbc have been saying! the only thing im hoping that will happen later in the series is that dr vera joins the team

    • tardistik

      July 28th, 2011 - 10:28pm

i think series 1 and 2 might have worked better if they used an ongoing story as children of earth and miracle day have done but then sometimes i wish children of earth and miracle day would seperate the episodes like in series 1 and 2 – its a confusing one

  • Dark Side of the Moon

    July 24th, 2011 - 10:27am

It seems RDL has allowed Torchwood to be put through an “American TV” blender and has lost the core values of the show. I was never a big fan of TW…Series 1 and 2 were dull, series was very good – but what it had going for it was the Sci-Fi content. Series 4 is nothing more than a CIA/Police drama…and a bad one of that. Besides the “miracle” we are a third ofthe way through the series and there is not so much of a sniff of true sci-fi.

    Truely Awful!!!

Better than the previous 2 episodes…still not great though…and far too many naked bottoms for my taste in Sci fi 🙂

By far the only three dimentional character (and only decent actor) who seems to get the only interesting dialogue is Dr Vera Juarez. The two American CIA characters are non entities, John Barrowman is a joke and Eve Myles over kills the Welsh thing “Oooooh”

    July 23rd, 2011 - 12:42pm

Loved it the series is just getting better and better, I can’t believe the BBC are actually cutting Jacks'(ahem)romantic scene, having just watched the downloaded Starz version I honestly do not think there is anything too over the top. But obviously parental descretion must apply.
